Potions

Last updated July 18, 2026

Potions give you a temporary buff or debuff and are made in a Cauldron rather than from a regular recipe. Filling the Cauldron with the right ingredients and letting it sit produces the matching potion.

How the Cauldron works

The Cauldron needs to be primed first by throwing in exactly 3 Ice Cube, but they only count once a nearby Campfire with fuel in it melts them, all 3 at once, a process that takes about 30 seconds total. Once all 3 have melted and the Cauldron is primed, adding the exact ingredients for one of the recipes below brews that potion instantly, there's no separate brewing time between potions. Any other combination - missing an ingredient, having extras, or not matching a recipe at all - produces a Placebo Potion instead. The liquid's color just blends visually from whatever you've thrown in, it doesn't affect which potion comes out.

Potions

The Swiftness Potion is made with 1 Crystal Chunk and 3 Cloudberry, and temporarily increases your movement speed by 10%.

The Ice Potion is brewed from 1 Crystal Chunk and 3 Ice Cube or Frostfruit in any combination, and decreases your movement speed instead of increasing it. It lowers your WalkSpeed to 12, a 25% decrease from the default 16.

The Haste Potion is brewed from 2 Iron and 2 Lemon, and reduces your Axe and Pick swing cooldown by 10% while it's active. It has no effect on any other tool.

The Healing Potion is brewed from 5 Bloodfruit and 2 Strawberry, and temporarily boosts your natural health regeneration by an extra 2 HP per second. That boost only kicks in while your food is at 50 or higher, since normal regeneration has the same requirement.

The Strength Potion is brewed from 2 Adurite and 2 Bloodfruit, and increases the damage you deal to other players by 5% while it's active. It has no effect on damage against resources or animals.

The Weakness Potion is brewed from 3 Magnetite and 2 Berry, and decreases the damage you deal to other players by 5% while it's active. Like Strength, it only affects damage against other players, not resources or animals.

The Harming Potion is brewed from 3 Prickly Pear and 3 Adurite, and deals a burst of damage reduced by your armor the moment you drink it.

This potion is made with 3 Prickly Pear and 1 Magnetite. The Poison Potion deals damage over time after you drink it, ticking once every second for 6 damage over 30 seconds. A full Magnetite Armor set (Mask, Chestplate, and Greaves) gives 50% poison resistance, cutting that down to 3 damage per tick.

The Fire Resistance Potion is brewed from just 2 Fire Hide, and protects you from Fire Arrow effects.

The Phantasm Potion is brewed from 4 Haunted Spirit, and increases the chance of a ghost spawning nearby.

The Placebo Potion is what you get from any combination of ingredients that doesn't match one of the recipes above, and has no effect at all despite costing the same as every other potion.

Splash Potions

Each potion has a Splash version that can be thrown at other players instead of drunk yourself. This is useful for applying Poison or Weakness to enemies in a fight, or Harming another player for a large amount of true damage.

The Splash Swiftness Potion applies the Swiftness effect to whoever it hits instead of the thrower, increasing their movement speed by 10% for the duration.

The Splash Ice Potion slows down whoever it hits, lowering their WalkSpeed to 12, the same 25% decrease as drinking one.

The Splash Haste Potion reduces the Axe and Pick swing cooldown of whoever it hits by 10%, the same as drinking one. It has no effect on any other tool.

The Splash Healing Potion heals whoever it hits. On a player it adds the same 2 HP per second regeneration boost as drinking one, which still needs 50 or higher food to kick in, while resources and NPCs instead get a flat 5 HP restored every tick.

The Splash Strength Potion increases the damage whoever it hits deals to other players by 5% for the duration. It has no effect on damage against resources or animals.

The Splash Weakness Potion is a common choice to throw at enemies, reducing the damage they deal to other players by 5%. It has no effect on damage against resources or animals.

The Splash Harming Potion deals a burst of damage to whoever it hits, reduced by their armor.

The Splash Poison Potion is another commonly used combat item, poisoning whatever it hits for a duration of time. It ticks every second for 6 damage to players or 5 damage to resources and NPCs, lasting 8 seconds on a player or 6 seconds on a resource or NPC. A full Magnetite Armor set gives 50% poison resistance, so a player wearing one only takes 3 damage per tick instead of 6.

The Splash Fire Resistance Potion protects whoever it hits from Fire Arrow effects.

The Splash Phantasm Potion increases the chance of a ghost spawning near whoever it hits.

The Splash Placebo Potion has no effect at all on whoever it hits.

Trivia

  • The Cauldron must be primed with exactly 3 Ice Cube before it will brew anything, and those 3 Ice Cube don't count toward any recipe's ingredient total.

  • The Ice Potion is the only recipe that accepts two different ingredients (Ice Cube or Frostfruit) in any combination for the same slot.

  • Every potion, including the Placebo Potion which does nothing at all, costs the same amount to make.

  • The Harming Potion only damages you when you drink it, while its Splash version deals that same damage to whoever it hits instead.

  • Melting the priming Ice Cubes takes about 30 seconds, and melts all 3 of them at once as long as a Campfire with fuel in it is burning nearby. An empty Campfire won't melt them at all.

  • Once the Cauldron is primed and has the right ingredients in it, the potion is ready immediately. There's no extra brewing time, every potion takes the same amount of time to make.

  • By drinking all of the potions in Booga Booga, you will complete the Elixer of Everything and will recive a Cauldron Bag for your accomplishments.
